The Rosie Fund

The Rosie Fund supports Indigenous girls in need of financial assistance to participate in hockey. Funding goes towards team registration fees, equipment, and extra development. Proceeds from our EVERY CHILD MATTERS Orange Shirts go directly towards the Rosie Fund and charities that support survivors of residential school.

The Rosie Fund is named after my Grandfather’s cousin, Rosie, who was a residential school survivor. She attended the Spanish Indian Residential School alongside her 5 siblings. While at the school, she and her siblings experienced significant hardship. The award is named in honour of Rosie, her spirit, and her resilience. Its purpose is to give opportunities that she did not have to Indigenous girls.

In 2024, Armstrong Hockey supported 3 Indigenous athletes through the Rosie Fund donating a total of $1250.00 towards registration fees. Armstrong Hockey has donated over $1700.00 to the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund and the Indian Residential School Survivors Society.
